The Wild Coast

South Africa’s remote paradise.

The Wild Coast has to be one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in the world. Rugged and remote beaches are hemmed in by gigantic cliffs that fall headlong into the sea. Large river mouths sustain a host of marine life and once a year, this incredible coastline plays host to one of natures most phenomenal migrations – the Sardine Run.

FAQ

The Wild Coast is one of the most remote parts of South Africa. The precipitous landscape makes traversing the Wild Coast very difficult in places, and as such, there are some parts of this region that are almost never visited.

The Wild Coast stretches from the Mtamvuna River in the north to the Great Kei River in the south.

The Wild Coast is known for its incredible natural beauty. Undulating hills, oceanside cliffs, and hidden forests. Its also particularly famous for its ocean life including one of the most amazing animal migrations in the natural world: the sardine run. Each winter, thousands upon thousands of these small fish make the epic journey from the waters of the cape, through the wild coast attracting birds and ocean predators in one of the most spectacular displays imaginable.
