FAQ

Hazyview is quite literally named after the hazy mist that covers the area in the summer months. The town is situated at the foot of the Drakensberg mountains so the view from the escarpment offers the best opportunities to see this mist from high above the town.

By South African town standards, Hazyview is quite small. It’s mainly a farming town, particularly famous for its banana and macadamia crops, however it also has a thronging tourism industry with various accommodation and tourist amenities throughout the town. It’s also a popular stop for tourists wanting to visit the Kruger National Park just a few kilometers away.

Hazyview is in a low-risk malaria area. However, if you want to minimise your risk of contracting malaria, wear clothing that covers your body in the evenings, sleep under a mosquito net, use a natural insect repellent and/or ask your doctor to prescribe a prophylactic. The risk of malaria is usually higher in the warmer summer months, when there are more mosquitos about.
